After South Padre Island police officials announced they have identified the suspect of a hit-and-run collision as a 20-year-old Sugar Land woman, officials now have her and one other suspect in custody. The hit-and-run incident caused injury to 5 other people.
Police received a tip from a person in the community, which led them to the suspect’s car, a Honda CR-V, which was still on the island. According to Chief Randy Smith, the police are confident it’s the car involved in the accident, though they are still continuing their investigation. The accident happened early morning on Friday, along the 4200 block of Gulf Boulevard.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene minutes after the crash and attended to three victims on the road who sustained serious injuries, and two more with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect and the car used were nowhere to be seen. The victims have since been taken to the nearest hospitals.
