A Houston firefighter was identified as one of multiple victims in a fatal car crash in Waller County along Interstate 10. The Houston Fire Department identified him as Jason Hamilton, 43 years old, and a 12-year veteran with the department. He was an engineer operator at Station 21 in southwest Houston. Hamilton is survived by his wife Laura and two children, Bruce and Cody, ages 9 and 17 respectively.
The car crash happened at around 10:00 a.m. on the westbound lanes of Katy Freeway. DPS troopers said two other people were killed in the collision, while another person sustained injuries and was quickly airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Troopers did not disclose the person’s specific injuries, only saying that he was in critical condition.
According to investigators from the Waller County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened after a pickup traveling east appeared to have a tire problem, which may have caused the vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic and crash into an SUV heading west. The pickup driver and one of the SUV’s passengers died at the scene of the accident.
