An Arlington man was killed in a motorcycle accident on U.S. Route 67 on the morning of August 7, Sunday. According to authorities, John Stringer, age 55, was riding his 2013 Harley-Davidson on the westbound lane in Keen, when he crashed head-on into an SUV.
Witness accounts show that the crash happened just as the SUV, which was moving eastbound, was making a left turn off the highway and onto Wallen Ridge Road. Stringer reportedly tried to stop and swerve away before crashing into the SUV, according to Captain Dean Turk of the Keen Police Department. Despite wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, Stringer sustained serious injuries and was immediately airlifted to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, where he was pronounced dead later than morning.
Keene police continue to investigate the cause of the accident. No charges have been filed against the driver of the SUV, a 64-year-old woman who sustained only minor injuries that did not warrant treatment at a hospital.
