A trucking accident involving an 18-wheeler caused the death of a young father last Wednesday morning in Harris County. According to authorities, Xavier Sauls, age 27, was behind the wheel of a Honda Accord that slammed into the rear end of a heavy truck. The car was reportedly traveling at more than 100 miles per hour on the westbound lanes of Farm to Market Road 1960.
The accident forced the closure of all roads in the area for more than 5 hours. Crash investigators at the scene said that the impact of the collision tore off the top and side of the Accord, resulting in gruesome injuries to Saul, who was thrown from the car. Sauls died at the scene of the accident. He leaves behind two children.
As of press time, authorities are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
