College Station police authorities have finally identified the victim killed in an accident caused by a city sanitation truck. The victim, Alannah Rose Ritch, age 21, was a student of Texas A&M, hailing from San Marcos, Texas. The accident occurred at the corner of Ayrshire and Angus, not far from the Texas A&M grounds. Ritch was reportedly riding her bicycle when a garbage truck crashed into her, running her over.
The woman passed away from her injuries at the scene of the accident. According to a witness, the garbage truck driver appeared shaken as he got off this vehicle. Authorities point out that the driver is experienced, having undergone extensive training to acquire a commercial driver’s license.
Chuck Gilman, Deputy City Manager for College Station, expressed his condolences on behalf of the city government to the family and everyone involved in the tragic accident. He added that the local police department is doing everything at present to complete its investigation of the incident.
