Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a multiple-car accident on June 17, Friday at approximately 7:30 a.m. on State Highway 105, east of Moss Hill. Witnesses say a Ford F150 pickup trick suddenly swerved into the opposite lane, sideswiping a Chevrolet pick and crashing head-on into a 2015 Cub Cadet truck.
The Ford F150’s driver, one Jarod Lawrence Johnson, age 47, sustained severe injuries and was immediately airlifted to Memorial Hermann hospital in Houston for treatment. The Ford’s front passenger, Luke Jordan Harpole, age 32, died at the scene of the accident. A second passenger in the Ford pickup, a 7-year-old boy, was also pronounced dead at crash site.
The child was related to Johnson. The driver of the sideswiped Chevrolet truck managed to escape with no injuries, save for dents and scratches on the truck. The driver of the Cub Cadet, Joshua Jardon, age 33, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The accident forced Texas DPS officials to close the section of SH105 between Batson and Moss Hill for 6 hours.
