A fatal truck accident involving an 18-wheeler left one Orange County couple dead, and another man with serious injuries. According to Texas DPS officials, the accident happened on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 11, on Interstate 10’s west and eastbound lanes near the 858.
The fatalities were identified as 68-year-old Laura Blevins and 61-year-old Donald Gene Blevins, both of Orange County Texas. Justice of the Peace Rodney Price pronounced them dead at the scene of the accident. Investigators report that the accident happened when an Isuzu truck heading west, driven by 53-year-old John Duffy, was rear-ended by Michael Dale Burlison, who was behind the wheel of a Kenworth truck tractor semi-trailer.
Burlison had lost control of the truck, which crossed over the concrete center divider, slamming head-on into the westbound Ford pickup driven by the Blevins. Burlison was transported to a nearby hospital for serious injuries. Duffy walked away with minor injuries treated at the scene.
