A car passenger was killed on the evening of December 14 after a speeding drive crashed into her vehicle. Media outlets and police authorities report that the accident happened along Farm to Market Road 1325 at around 7:00 p.m., just outside of Round Rock. The victim was Joan Chaney, 68, a resident of Round Rock. She was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband remains in critical condition.
A Texas DPS official said that 22-year-old Hernan Martinez of Hutto, was speeding on a Lexus before crashing into the Mercury Grand Marquis Joan was in. The force of the crash was strong enough to cause the Mercury to slam into a parked Ford Mustang. Martinez sustained minor injuries.
