A man was killed on the early morning of Friday after a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver on a section of Highway 225 near Pasadena in Houston. Police received a call at around 3:00 a.m. from a witness who saw a Ford F-150 pickup truck speeding in the opposite lane before crashing into a Kia Optima.
Police investigators say that the impact of the crash caused the Kia to flip over the guardrail. Its driver died at the scene of the accident. Although both vehicles erupted in a fiery blaze that forced the closure of the way, bystanders managed to drag the truck driver out of the burning vehicle. He was taken immediately to the hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Houston police are reportedly evaluating the truck driver’s blood alcohol content at the time of the accident. Police have yet to file charges against the driver. In cases like this, hiring a lawyer will prove critical to establishing grounds for filing a wrongful death claim.
